Son Vives
The Son Vives 'Bodega' or wine estate is located in the centre of Banyalbufar in the old family 'finca' which dates from the 17th Century. The wine estate Son Vives in Banyalbufar is found near the sea, on the western coast of Mallorca, and was founded in 2003.
This Mallorcan wine estate is a small one, as the vines cover only an area of 1.5 hectares of terraced gardens in Banyalbufar - the name 'Banyalbufar' is the arabic word for 'little winegarden by the sea'.
Banyalbufar has a great tradition of growing special white grapes, namely the Malvasia de Banyalbufar. Toni Darder was one of the first Mallorcan winemakers who began to again create wines of this famous variety.
Today Toni offers a red wine as well as white wines. The Bodega Son Vives is a member of the 'Petits Cellers' or Small Wineries, an association of Mallorcan winemakers who, together, aim to improve the promotion of their wines. They signed an agreement with the Asociación Agroturismo Balear. The owners of these old farm houses in Mallorca will now specially serve their guests wines from the 'Petits'.
