Jose Luis Ferrer
The young pioneer José Luis Ferrer, who was the grandfather of the current co owener of this wine estate, José Luis Roses Ferrer, founded the José Ferrer estate in Mallorca in 1931.
He was a young and dynamic 22 year old at the time and he felt a genuine passion for wine and a strong determination to make his vineyards a success.
The Spanish civil war broke out in 1936 and instead of giving in to the difficulties this caused his business he used the opportunity to make the first Mallorcan vintage wine, a wine that had been aged and that would last longer, and so be easier to keep.
José Luis Ferrer's grandsons became involved in the vineyards in 1982 and the facilities have not stopped growing and improving since.
They are now the proud owners of 92 hectares of vineyards and this modern, state-of-the-art wine cellar which can be visited today. The José L Ferrer wine estate is currently the biggest on the island.
